AUSTIN – The City of Ingleside saw the largest increase in sales tax allocations in October than other cities in San Patricio County, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced last week.
Monthly allocations are based on sales made in the month by businesses that report tax monthly. While not a complete economic picture of a municipality, the numbers give an indication of the health of a city’s retail sector.
Ingleside’s take for October was $255,183.32 an increase of 68.46 percent from the same period last year of $151,476.36. Year-to-date totals for Ingleside are $2,300,467.99, an increase of 28.66 percent from last year of $1,787,965.52.
Gregory saw an increase of 57.24 percent of sales tax allocations in October with $35,227.32 from same time last year when it saw $22,402.13. Year-to-date numbers in the city are $338,138.80, up 43.75 percent from last year’s totals of $235,222.36.
Taft received sales tax allocations for October totaling $44,171.40, an increase of 53.82 percent from the same period last year of $28,715.27. Year-to-date totals for the city stand at $382,824.97, an increase of 12.23 percent from last year’s total of $341,092.57.
Odem also saw an increase of 26.16 percent in October sales tax allocations with a total of $41,125.40 this year as opposed to last year’s total of $32,596.36. Year-to-date totals have Odem at $347,214.43, an increase of 8.99 percent from the same period last year of $318,571.59.
Portland saw an increase in sales tax allocations as well. October total is $407,797.44, an increase of 17.43 percent from the same period last year of $347,250.90. Year-to-date totals are $4,387,474, an increase of 11.25 percent from the same period last year of $3,943,789.78.
Sinton saw a slight increase of 5.45 percent in revenue in October with $91,833.31. For the same period last year, October total was $87,087.03. Year-to-date totals increased 5.24 percent. This year’s total so far is $927,284.58 as opposed to the same period last year of $881,098.81.
Ingleside on the Bay saw a decrease of 22.50 percent in sales tax allocations in October. Total for the month is $978.07, down from the same period last year with $1,262.03. Year-to-date total is $15,001.09, which sees an slight increase of 1.14 percent from the same total last year of $14,830.81.
Mathis also saw a decrease of 4.37 percent in October allocations. The total sales tax allocations for the month are $83,720.97, a decrease compared to the same period last year of $87,553.66. Year-to-date totals are $827,690.03, a decrease of 2.51 percent, from last year’s total of $849,043.17.
