GEORGE WEST – For 39 years, George West High School teacher and coach Chuck Pawelek, who has announced his retirement, has been a mainstay on the diamond, coaching either baseball or softball, including leading a talented team of Lady Longhorns to the 2010 state championship in softball.

Beth Ham, a senior at George West High School, signs a letter of intent to play softball for Schreiner University. Attending the ceremony were GWHS softball coach Benito Garcia, Beth's parents, Jimmy and Elizabeth Ham, and Select softball coach Richard Galvan.
The varsity Three Rivers Bulldogs softball team squared off against the Refugio Lady Cats in the area round of the playoffs. Refugio won the best-of-three series 2-0, with an 8-7 triumph in Orange Grove on Thursday, May 2, and a 10-9 victory in Beeville on Saturday, May 4.
Faith Townsend is headed to state after completing a 5 foot six inch jump in the high jump and a strong run in the 100 meter hurdles, capturing first in both events at the regional meet in San Antonio on April 27.
HUNTSVILLE — The McMullen County girls traveled to Sam Houston State University for the regional track meet on Friday, April 26 and Saturday April 27.
KINGSVILLE — The varsity Three Rivers Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs competed in the regional track meet, held in Kingsville Friday, April 26-Saturday, April 27.
POTEET — The varsity Three Rivers Lady Bulldogs faced off against the La Pryor Lady Bulldogs in the bi-district round of the playoffs on Thursday, April 25 in Poteet. Three Rivers scored two runs in the first inning, and capitalized on La Pryor’s five errors in a 9-0 triumph.
